Blue Devils Invited to Free College Recruiting Workshop

March 23, 2023

Blue Devil athletes and their parents are invited to participate in a free online college athletic recruiting workshop on Tuesday, March 28 at 8 p.m. The session is open to all Huntington athletes currently in grades 7-12. To register for free go to www.dynamitesports.com.

Navigating through the college recruiting process can be daunting for anyone. There are so many new NCAA recruiting rules and changes in academic eligibility requirements that it’s hard to keep track of them all.

The workshop is being made available to Huntington through the New York State Athletic Administrators Association. There is no charge for participation, but pre-register is required. Space is limited. Save your spot as soon as possible.

The workshop will be hosted by national recruiting expert Rick Wire, NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year and Indiana University star Sue Ramsey and nine year NFL veteran Coy Wire.

Titled “Parent’s Guide to the College Recruiting Process,” the session will be valuable to athletes and their coaches, too. It’s for any student and their parents who have aspirations of playing college sports.

The workshop can be watched by families from their homes on laptops, PCs and Notebooks. Participants will also receive a free SAT/ACT prep program valued at $350.

The workshop will cover:

• How to set up recruiting visits.

• How to make sure athletes will be academically eligible to play in college as a freshman and get more opportunities.

• How to get an athletic scholarship or grant.

• How to get noticed and recruited.

• Why you should start as early as eighth grade.

• Why there are more opportunities at NCAA Division III, NAIA and junior colleges.

“I’ll bet your parents don’t know that 80 percent of all athletic opportunities in college come from D-III, NAIA and junior colleges,” Mr. Wire said. “The only way to change their mindset is with education, education and education.”

The free virtual workshop is viewed as a convenient way to learn everything you need to know if you’re considering participating in college athletics.
