Jennifer Vallejo Enjoys Exceptional Huntington Experience

March 9, 2023

Jennifer Vallejo’s considerable drive and determination shouldn’t be underestimated. The Huntington High School junior works very hard and earned an academic grade average exceeding 97 in the most recent marking period. She hopes her efforts will pay off and result in a career as a pediatrician, physician assistant or dermatologist.

Asked to choose a pair of faculty favorites, the teenager found the decision to be a difficult one.

“To be honest, I can’t pick just two teachers, but I think Mr. [Fred] Bisogno and Mr. [Anthony] Troffa have made me really enjoy social studies and I really love their way of teaching,” Ms. Vallejo said. “They are both very passionate and use teaching not just to educate, but to motive and inspire. They are able to tell stories and connect history to the present day, which makes the class so interesting.”

Ms. Vallejo said teachers Marlo Romero and Dianna Cazzalino have also made a difference in her experience. “I feel as if their  energy, attitude and enthusiasm are admirable and brighten everyone’s day,” the junior said. “They are people you can go to for anything. I feel as if all these teachers really pushed me to my fullest potential and really had the greatest impact on me during my time at Huntington.”

The teenager has been reflecting on college possibilities. “I would really love to major in biology and biochemistry,” Ms. Vallejo said. “The careers that interest me the most are pediatrician, physician assistant and dermatologist.”

A hardworking and passionate student who is very bright and caring and who hopes to inspire and help the people around her, Ms. Vallejo volunteers with Huntington High School’s Key Club and Habitat for Humanity chapters, is a member United Amigos and participates in the Science Olympiad program.

“My experience at Huntington High School has been exceptional,” Ms. Vallejo said. “I think that all the teachers and people at make the experience the best! The friendships that I have been able to make because of school have made my experience better. I have enjoyed all the opportunities that Huntington has given me.”

The junior is taking classes in Advanced Placement Seminar, Chemistry Honors, French, US History and Pre-Calculus. “My favorite ones are definitely AP Seminar and US History because they really interest me and have made me love both subjects,” Ms. Vallejo said.

The teenager used the summer months before the current school year to work a part-time job and spend times with her family and friends.

“I hope that in 10 years, I can be found in a doctor’s office helping people out in the career that I enjoy and love the most,” Ms. Vallejo said.
