Finley Students Capture On a Roll Award
March 8, 2023
J. Taylor Finley Middle School is celebrating a large group of seventh and eighth graders who garnered the On a Roll Award after significantly improving their classroom performance during the recent second marking period.
The honorees had their second marking period performance measured against that of the first. Students who improved their grade point average by five points or more in a certain class received recognition from their teacher along with a personalized certificate, while those improving their overall grade point average by five points or more received a letter home and a special reward.
The second marking period On a Roll Award recipients for overall improvement in their grade averages include: Edgar Castro Anariba, Catalina Chanlatte, Aslhy Saravia Diaz, Yovani Garcia Zavala, Melissa Henriquez Carbajal, Robert McClure, Jesse Perez, Kayvon Pittman, Angela Romero Redondo and Josue Perdomo Ulloa.
“The program will continue into the third quarter as well, with students continuing to be recognized for raising their grade point averages from one quarter to the next,” Principal Traci Roethel said.
Mrs. Roethel said that along with giving credit to those students who display academic achievement in the form of high grade point averages, she also wants to recognize students who work hard, but don’t always receive the recognition they deserve.
