Finley Voices Performs for Trustees

March 7, 2023

Finley Voices took the stage at last week’s public meeting of the Huntington School Board in the Adam Spector Auditorium at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School and performed for trustees, district officials and residents.

The group is essentially an honors choir. “We were honored to sing for the Board of Education,” said Susan Graber, a Finley music teacher who is the choir’s faculty advisor. “We hope it will encourage a few more people to come to our concert on Thursday, March 9. It is at 7 p.m. at the high school and will also feature the jazz band, symphonic band and honors orchestra. The students are highly dedicated singers who also participate in band, orchestra or chorus during the school day. The ensemble provides an opportunity to all students who want to sing in a choir. They come before school once a week to make music together.”

Last week’s performance included Jasmine Adcock, Grace Bartasi, Alex Boeckmann, Hanna Boyle, Caleigh Camarata, Piper Davis, Michael DiVincenzo, Chloe Donovan, Lauren Dopico, Bella Duke, Deveren Flynn, Iliana Jarmolowski, Hilary Galvez Jerez, Greyson Henderson, Beatrix Hopkins, Samantha Jandres Benitez, Avery Joynt, Sena Knopf, Jeremiah Miller, Norah Moskowitz, James Moy, Michael Munsch, Jackson Poli, Eva Richter and Ella Van Horn.

“We’ve been exploring many different types of music as an ensemble this year,” Mrs. Graber said. “We are performing a beautiful song with descriptive text about the sea, a traditional Zulu piece as well as ‘This is Me’ from the Greatest Showman.”
