Celebrate the Arts in Huntington Tonight
March 6, 2023
A celebration of the arts in Huntington UFSD will be held tonight at Huntington High School. The first ever Huntington Arts Night promises to be fun for everyone. There will be artwork on display, two crafts activities for youngsters and a concert featuring district music faculty members and affiliated musicians.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Admission is $5 with proceeds earmarked for arts-in-education program funding. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
Huntington’s Arts-in-Education Committee has helped to plan and facilitate the event. Art department faculty members will display their own pieces of artwork. A pair of hands-on craft activities will be provided for students and their families arriving at 6:15 p.m. There will be art and music themed raffle baskets and a concession with refreshments and baked goods.
“Our first ever Huntington Arts Night is going to be a wonderful evening,” said Brian Stellato, district director of fine and performing arts. “We will be featuring our amazing and talented district art and music staff, along with raising money for our district-wide arts-in-ed programs. There will be artwork on display from several of our amazing district art teachers. Many of our district music teachers will be performing as well. We encourage students and their families to come out and enjoy an evening surrounded by art and music. There even will be a chance to participate in a quick craft or two and take your craft home with you!”
Music teachers and affiliated musicians will perform in concert in the auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. The group includes Andre Rizzuto on tuba; Frank Battista with a handpan solo; James DiMeglio on viola; Nicole Lynch on piano; Ashley Berrell on trombone; Mike Zigon on vocals and guitar; Jason Giachetti on drums, Christina Bhasin on violin; Nicole Castaldo on violin and Hannah Van Wickler on cello.
The finale will be Jacqueline Duryea and Frank Battista performing a vocal/guitar duo of four songs by 4 Non Blondes. The Foo Fighters, The Cranberries and Van Morrison.
