Christopher Grover is one of Huntington’s Good Guys

March 3, 2023

Christopher Grover is one of Huntington High School’s good guys. The junior is a well-liked young man and a hardnosed competitor who plays to win at everything he does while still managing to genuinely care about others.

Mr. Grover’s athletic talents have been obvious since he began kindergarten at Washington Primary School. He enjoys sports; lacrosse in particular and the teenager is expected to play a key role on the Blue Devil team this spring.

The junior has developed several worthwhile relationships with high school teachers and coaches and he has surrounded himself with a great group of friends.

“I feel that I have really connected with Coach [Anthony] Troffa,” Mr. Grover said. “He has provided both guidance on the field and in the classroom. Coach Troffa has helped shaped me into the person I am today. Mr. [Fred] Bisogno is one of the best teachers I have had. He shares his life experiences and wisdom while he teaches. It has really made a difference in my education.”

Mr. Grover plans to attend college, but has no idea where it will be at this point. He’s also still deciding on which academic major to pursue although he does have an interest in sports management.

“Some of my favorite courses this year are U. S. History and Virtual Enterprise,” Mr. Grover said. “U. S. History has always interested me. There is so much to learn and the subject covers a wide variety of everything that has happened in the past. Both Coach Troffa and Mr. Bisogno make for a great learning experience. Virtual Enterprise has taught me the basics and fundamentals of how a business works. Attending the trade shows has taught me how to communicate with others to make a sale.”

The teenager has been a mock trial team member, learning more about the law and court process. He ran on the Blue Devil winter track team and plans to return to the field this month with the varsity boys’ lacrosse team.

“My Huntington High School experience has been rewarding,” Mr. Grover said. “I’ve made lifelong friends throughout my time so far and have enjoyed everything Huntington has to offer. I’ve had a lot of fun in my classes and playing sports.”

Mr. Grover is a very motivated teenager and an independent thinker. “Last summer I played with the Team Huntington lacrosse team,” he said. “I spent many weekdays as a counselor at Mercurio Basketball Camp in Greenlawn. I also spent many weekends competing at Riverhead Raceway in the Truck Enduro Race Series. Next summer my family is planning a trip to Greece and Italy.”

The teenager enjoys a wide variety of activities. Mr. Grover gets along well with everyone. He’s willing to take risks and challenge himself to grow as a person.

“If I were to look ahead 10 years, I am hoping to find myself having graduated from college and at the beginning of a long and successful journey in life,” Mr. Grover said.
