Trustees Approve Updated Budget Vote and Election Timeline

Huntington School Board members approved a set of technical updates to timeline for next spring’s budget vote and election. Residents will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Huntington High School from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Trustees have endorsed the following timeline:

• On or before March 1, 2024: Calculation of district tax levy submitted to the state comptroller.

• March 22, 2024: Last day for voter propositions to be placed on the ballot.

• April 15, 2024: Budget adoption by trustees.

• April 22, 2024: Nominating petitions due for trustee candidates. Absentee and early mail ballot applications accepted.

• April 25, 2024: Military ballot applications due/registration application due.

• May 6, 2024: Hard copy of budget available to public in all buildings. (An electronic version of the adopted budget will be available on the district’s website on April 16, 2024.)

• May 13, 2024: Public hearing on budget.

• May 14, 2024: Deadline for receipt of absentee ballot and early mail ballot applications if ballot is to be mailed to the voter;

• May 15, 2024: Last voter registration day;

• May 16, 2024: Voter register available for public inspection; List of voters receiving absentee ballots available.

• May 20, 2024: Deadline for receipt of absentee ballot or early mail ballot applications if ballot is to be personally delivered to the voter.

• May 21, 2024: Annual meeting – budget vote and election; Board of Registration meets to register voters for the 2025 budget vote and election and all special district meetings.
