Trustees Approve Charter for Principal’s Advisory Council

Huntington School Board members approved the charter for the new Principal’s Advisory Council at Huntington High School. The goal of the group is to “increase the overall happiness, productivity and wellbeing of students and faculty by providing a bridge between the student body, faculty and administration.”
Huntington Principal Brenden Cusack said the new organization “will bring forward voices that may otherwise be unheard at Huntington High School to advocate for new ideas that may enhance our overall environment for students.”
Membership in the group is open to any registered high school students in grades 9-12.
“The PAC shall engage in activities that may facilitate the exchange of ideas and feedback from students and staff to be discussed among the Council and the principal; e.g. surveys, forums, suggestion tables, etc.,” according to the charter. “The PAC will seek to plan activities and events that may enhance the school environment through spirit celebrations, recognition opportunities, new traditions, beautification projects or by other means.”
The organization’s 2023/24 executive officers include co-Presidents are Samantha Koepele and Erline Pharius; Vice President Jack Ruthkowski; Treasurer Brooke Parks; Secretary Nicholas Plachta; PR Coordinator Kimberly Panameno and Events Coordinator Jessica Maixner.
“The PAC is a great opportunity for us to help make a difference in the school,” Mr. Ruthkowski. “I really enjoy taking all the great ideas from students and teachers and take them to the PAC where we can help make them a reality.”
