Vocalists & Instrumentalists Entertain at Board of Ed Meeting

Huntington High School’s highly regarded chamber choir along with a string quartet entertained the crowd at Monday night’s public meeting of the Huntington School Board in Adam Spector Auditorium at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School.
The vocalists and musicians performed five songs, including “Jingle Bell Rock,” Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” Angels We Have Heard on High,” “Silent Night” and “Joy to the World.” The chamber choir annually performs a holiday selection at the trustees’ December meeting. Victoria Garbarino is the choir’s director. James DiMeglio is the string quartet’s director.
The vocalists included Layna Abraham, Jake Amend, Emily Barba, Liva Camarata, Kevin Dominguez, Michaela Dopico, Devon Elvir-Cover, Chloe Hunt, Rachel Huth, Emily Kustera, Walter Lopez Martinez, Mia Molina-Baptista, Taishawn Olton, Sergio Portillo Sofia Rodriguez, Jayden Roman, Alexa Schirripa, Samuel Soric, James Stensland, Josephine Sullivan, Alexander Tine and Lily Wasoski.
The string quartet featured Caitlin Maher Dubnau, Dylan Wong, Brooke Parks and Emma Gutierrez.
The Huntington High School choral and orchestra programs are among the best on Long Island. The high school program features two choirs. The concert choir is open to anyone who loves to sing while the chamber choir is an elite, audition-only group.
The performances created a festive environment in the auditorium. Trustees, administrators and audience members gave the musicians hearty applause.
