HHS Guidance Offers College Services to Students

December 13, 2023

Huntington High School’s College Office and the guidance and counseling offices in general are busy places. Students need to be diligent at keeping up with all of the services and overall assistance that is available to them.

Seniors should joined the College Office’s Google Classroom as soon as possible by using class code lbl3krc. Juniors should join their respective Google Classroom by utilizing code az77s67. “Once connected you will find a plethora of material at your disposal from how-to guides, helpful videos and documents as well as a list of the upcoming virtual college visits scheduled only for Huntington students,” said Jeannette Alomia, district director of guidance testing, K-12.

Financial Aid Night is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, 2024. “There have been significant changes made to the FAFSA, including the December release date,” Mrs. Alomia said. “Therefore, it is strongly advised that both students and parents/guardians attend this event.”

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Completion Night is scheduled for Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 7 p.m. Families will receive step by step instruction to fill out the FAFSA.

Seniors can sign-up for the Class of 2024 Remind account by using the class code @hunt2024 to receive important messages from the Guidance Department.

Juniors can sign-up for the Class of 2025 Remind account by using the class code @hunt2025 to receive important messages from the Guidance Department.

Students should log into their Naviance account and verify the e-mail address listed is their personal email. A Huntington UFSD e-mail address is not an active e-mail and without a personal e-mail address students will not receive important messages from the high school guidance office.

Several colleges will conduct an on-site application review in the College Office in January. Seniors can meet with admission counselors in the College Office and have their applications personally reviewed for free. There is no application fee required

Applicants will receive immediate notification of acceptance or further review and scholarship eligibility (in most cases). Specific college admission criteria will apply. Those interested in participating in this free program, must sign-up in the College Office as soon as possible.
