“I feel incredibly honored and proud to be named All-State,” Barba said. “It validates the dedication and effort I’ve put into volleyball over the years and this recognition motivates me to continue pushing myself. Even though this is a personal achievement, it is also a reflection of the collective effort and teamwork with all the coaches and players throughout my volleyball career.”

Barba turned in a historic season for Huntington. She shattered the single season record for kills with 361 and broke the all-time Blue Devil mark of 636. “Kate was arguably one of the best players in the county this season,” head coach Todd Donaghy said. “I’d say Kate had the best season statistically that any Blue Devil had in the history of girls’ volleyball here at Huntington. Kate led Suffolk in kills and was in the top five for digs and service aces.”

The senior is currently considering her college options. She intends to continue her volleyball career on the college level.

“I am very grateful for my experience as a Blue Devil athlete and I am really proud of the volleyball team’s growth over my four years of playing varsity,” Barba said. “Making the playoffs this year was an amazing experience and a great way to end my last season.”

The teenager has been a wonderful ambassador for the sport. “I am also very proud of the volunteer work I have done working with the Finley Middle School girls’ volleyball teams over the last two years and I am looking forward to watching the future success of the Huntington volleyball program,” Barba said.
