Washington School Recognizes November’s Finest
December 12, 2023
Washington Primary School Principal Michelle Richards was excited to read off the names of November’s Washington Ways Award winners. Once each youngster heard their name ring out over the building’s public address system, recipients headed down to the main office to receive a certificate commemorating their achievement.
The Washington Ways initiative focuses on recognizing and rewarding positive behavior while encouraging students to be safe, respectful and responsible.
Students are given various colored tickets by teachers and support staff members for exemplary behavior. The tickets can be presented to the youngsters throughout the day.
November’s “red ticket” honorees include Samantha Lizama, Philomena Heuman, Marcus Conklin, Theodore Conklin, Nicholas Alfaro, Mia Affa, Jessica Lizama, Eydan Granados, Natas Katsoulas, Stephany Reyes Escobar, Yucheng Zhao, Charlette Bublin, Iliana Navarette-Umana, Carlos Aparicio Villegas, William Yoda, Sophia Moreira Arriaga, Devante Booker and Johnny Osorio-Dominguez.
“November’s ‘Washington Winners’ were recognized for demonstrating the Washington expectations, being role models for their peers and showing great citizenship every day,” Dr. Richards said. “They work tirelessly to be safe, respectful and responsible. These students work hard and never give up. Each day they dream big, reach for the stars and promise to make a difference.
The entire classes of Tina Laurie, Vicki Creighton and Melissa Mazzalonga were also recognized as the “blue ticket” award winners for their outstanding collective efforts.
“All of us are very proud of these boys and girls,” Dr. Richards said. “They have set a wonderful example for their classmates.”
