Clubs Collaborate on Winter Coat & Blanket Drive
December 11, 2023
It’s a warm collaboration for a very warm cause. Huntington High School’s United Amigos club is collaborating with the New World Club and the Science Honor Society on a winter coat and blanket drive so that those who need the warm items the most get them.
United Amigos is a club of dedicated, multicultural students who take pride in assisting those studying English as a second language to achieve success. The teenagers provide mentoring, tutoring and social services to those in need.
The New Work Club is a collaborative group that features “students assisting other students as they become increasingly attuned to a new way of life and schooling system.” The newcomers to Huntington High School are paired with current students, who help to guide and mentor their peers.
Huntington’s Science Honor Society chapter was organized in 2000. It encourages its members to engage in community service, hence its participation in the coat and blanket drive
Any type of winter coat and warm blanket will be accepted during the drive, which will continue through the end of the week. Students can drop off items in the high school library. Community members can leave them at the guard booth in the parking lot or at the main entrance.
