Bryan Lizama Named to All-State Soccer Team
December 8, 2023
Huntington senior Bryan Lizama has been named to the All-State soccer team. The teenager plans to continue his playing career at SUNY New Paltz.
Lizama played a key role on the Blue Devil team that reached the Suffolk Class AA championship game this past fall. He is known for his gritty, determined and inspired play and his leadership as the Huntington captain is top notch.
“I feel very blessed and honored to be named All-State,” Mr. Lizama said. “It’s an accomplishment that is difficult to achieve and I couldn’t have won it without the help of my coaches and teammates. My career at Huntington will be something I will cherish for the rest of my life. The memories on the field are just as great as those off the field. It was always a dream of mine to play for my high school varsity team and the journey I had throughout the four years was the best I could ever experience and I wouldn't change a thing about it.
Huntington coaches John Pagano, Jason Suarez and Jose Alfaro are all sorry to see Lizama leaving the program, but happy he will be continuing his career at New Paltz.
“In almost 30 years of coaching, I don’t know if I’ve ever had a player who has garnered more respect from opposing coaches, players and referees than Bryan Lizama,” Pagano said. “Every day he represented Huntington High School soccer in a positive way and was maybe the finest captain we’ve had.”
