Virtual Enterprise Executives Visit Google’s HQ

April 20, 2023

A group of Huntington High School business students participating in the Virtual Enterprise Youth Business Summit in New York City took time out to visit Google’s headquarters in Manhattan this week.

Thirteen Huntington teenagers have been in New York City this week, making presentations in a national business competition and participated in a trade show at the Javits Center.

“My students and I had one of the greatest experiences on Tuesday afternoon,” high school business teacher Paige Furman said. “We got to tour Google’s New York City headquarters and meet with executives for a presentation and Q&A session.”

Mrs. Furman has been attempting to coordinate just such a tour for several years, but until this week was unable to pulled it off.

“I finally posted about my mission to get into the Google office and thanks to the power of social media, we were able to make it happen,” Mrs. Furman said. “It was Huntington High School teacher aide Nancy Levine that connected me to agency account specialist Kelly Tini. Kelly and her co-worker, Mark gave us an incredible tour where we got to see the famous Google workspaces, game rooms, cafeterias, microkitchens, rooftop and all of the incredible perks you can find in their building like napping pods, Lego rooms, a gym, a massage room, onsite doctors and a wellness center.”

Following the tour, Huntington group members met with Ms. Tini and software engineer Zeyu Yang in a conference room where they were given a presentation on Machine Learning at Google and participated in an engaging Q&A about AI and Bard, as well as the different departments and career opportunities at Google.

“It was really cool to see all the benefits Google has and the way the company works in its New York City location,” junior Marley Joseph said.

The Huntington business students enjoyed the visit and thought it was time well spent. “I found it really interesting seeing all of the fun things Google offers its employees. I also thought it was cool to hear how the employees we met got their jobs.”
