Blue Devil Football Golf Outing

The kickoff to the Huntington High School football team’s 100th anniversary season will come on Monday, June 12 when the Blue Devils tee-off at 1:30 p.m. for a golf outing at Crab Meadow Golf Course in Northport.

New varsity head coach Ron Wilson and his staff have organized what is expected to be a fun afternoon for football alumni and supporters of the program. Check in and preparations on the putting green and driving range are set for 12:30 p.m.

Fees for the day are $225 per golfer or $800 per foursome. Can’t play, but would still like to participate and attend the post-golf festivities, including the awarding of prizes. Dinner is available for $75. Sponsorships are going fast for $500 per hole.

Huntington’s 100th anniversary season officially begins with practice on Monday, August 21. Coach Wilson is planning one or more scrimmages prior to the first game. A four-way scrimmage with Northport, Commack and Walt Whitman will be held on either September 1 or September 2.

Huntington will play its first game on Friday night, September 8 at No. 1 seeded West Islip. The Blue Devils will host West Babylon the following week before traveling to third seeded North Babylon in the third week. Huntington hosts Smithtown East on Saturday, September 30 and fifth seeded Northport on Saturday, October 7.

Huntington plays at Deer Park on Friday night, October 13 in the sixth game of the season before hosting second seeded Half Hollow Hills East on Saturday, October 21. The regular season will conclude on Friday night, October 27 at Copiague.

The Suffolk Division II seeds are as follows: 1. West Islip; 2. Half Hollow Hills East; 3. North Babylon; 4. Bellport; 5. Northport; 6. Centereach; 7. Huntington; 8. Newfield; 9. West Babylon; 10. Deer Park; 11. Smithtown East; 12. Copiague.

“We are hoping for a great turnout at our golf outing, which will also serve as our football program reunion,” Coach Wilson said. “We think it is going to be a great day for the Blue Devils. All proceeds will benefit our middle school and high school football teams and players.
