Armstrong & Edouazin Pace Blue Devil Track

Seniors Matthew Armstrong and Kender Edouazin paced the Huntington boys’ track and field team to a strong performance at the Longwood Spring Classic last weekend.

Armstrong won the 1600m (4:29.40) and 3200m (10:19.80) runs and Edouazin finished first in the 400m dash in 51.30 seconds and ran on the winning 4x100m relay that also included David Dje Bi, Johan Fajardo and Cristian Delgado.

In the 110m hurdles, Delgado placed third in 16.40 seconds with Nikolai Lulewich (16.70) and Ryan Centeno (17.30) finished fifth and seventh, respectively.

Fajardo also placed second in high jump after clearing 5-06 feet. Roberto Rodriguez was seventh in the 200m dash in a time of 23.90 seconds.

The Blue Devils also looked strong in a pair of throwing events. Ethan Lawless was third in shot put with a throw of 49-09.50 feet and Sergemio Cerome was eighth with a toss of 39-02.50.

Cerome placed fourth (113-00 feet) in discus and Lawless (112-05 feet) was fifth. Dawin Preval finished eighth in the event with a throw that measured 105-00 feet and Carmine Carusone was ninth with a toss of 103-09 feet.

Dozens of teams will join the Huntington boys’ and girls’ squads on Saturday morning for the Dennis Walker Classic, which will begin at 9 a.m. at Blue Devil Stadium. Walker taught and coached cross country and track and field at Huntington High School for 34 years before retiring in June 2007.
