Finley Girls’ Soccer Teams Appear Powerful

September 29, 2022

The two J. Taylor Finley Middle School girls’ soccer teams appear to be powerful squads capable of winning their fair share of games. Both teams opened with victories before each of them fell in hard fought second contests.

The two teams are coached by Alicia Furman and Shea Scully. Furman is a Finley Spanish teacher who led Walt Whitman to the state title when she played in high school. Scully teaches physical education at Huntington High School. She played for the Blue Devils.

Furman’s team, scheduled as Finley-Blue features seventh graders Angela Abbatiello, Mikeyla Ascencion Morales, Genesis Banegas Orellana, Hanna Boyle, Deisy Dominguez Torres, Violetta Fox, Cassidy Harris, Alessandra Leotta, Julianna Miranda, Keysi Valencia Campos and Andrea Zuniga Ponce and eighth graders Aubrie Godin, Talia Hayden, Justina Hlenski, Erin Langton, Gabriella LoScalzo, Leila O’Toole, Arianna Rubio and Audrey Sherwood.

Scully’s team, scheduled as Finley-White includes seventh graders Emma Barch, Katherine Duke, Timeyah Hardge, Julia Hotine, Samantha Martinez, Brianna Mata, Daniella Petrone, Anabella Rafailan, Nicolina Santoli, Nayeli Umana Bustillo and Lia Zivkovic and eighth graders Ariana Corvoisier, Andie DiGioia, Alexis Haas, Madyn Kalb, Leah MacManus, Norah Moskowitz, Dakota Respass and Melanie Rodriguez.

The two Finley teams are both playing 10 game schedules, including contests against Elwood, Wyandanch, Kings Park, Oldfield-Green, Oldfield-White, Stimson-White, Stimson-Maroon and Hauppauge.

Finley-White will play Finley-Blue on October 6 at 4 p.m. on the new sod athletic field at Finley.
