Huntington Junior Nick Sclafani Pursues His Passions

September 29, 2022

Nicholas Sclafani has sketched out his path through Huntington High School where the junior is taking interesting classes, assuming a leadership role in his Virtual Enterprise business course and playing on a pair of Blue Devil varsity teams.

Mr. Sclafani is a happy-go-lucky teenager. He doesn’t allow much to get him down for very long. He has identified his interests and his is pursuing his passions with enthusiasm.

“I spent most of my summer hanging out with my friends, listening to music, golfing and working as a caddy at the Huntington Crescent Club,” Mr. Sclafani said.

The junior is a great golfer and getting better all the time as he goes about striving to master each club and shot and put the ball down exactly where he wants it.

“I am especially looking forward to my Video Broadcasting course with Ms. [Kristen] Fiorenti,” Mr. Sclafani said. “We have a great studio and sports broadcasting is my dream job. Virtual Enterprise is another course I’m looking forward to with Mrs. [Paige] Furman. I am the chief marketing officer for our company, OmniBus.”

Mr. Sclafani has been playing on the Blue Devil varsity golf team since seventh grade. This marks the fifth year he will be working with head coach Michael Marinello. He’s the team captain.

The teenager is also excited to be working with science department faculty member Amelia Saggese. “I am taking physics with her and she is one of my favorite teachers,” Mr. Sclafani said. It’s another class that I am looking forward to. Going to Virtual Enterprise trade-shows with Mrs. Furman will also be very fun.

The junior is a great golfer, but he is currently sidelined. “I am the captain of the golf team, but I can’t play because I broke my wrist,” Mr. Sclafani said. “I still look forward to attending all the matches and doing everything I can to help the team succeed. We are off to a 2-1 start, but are only looking to improve. I will be playing baseball in the spring with Coach [Billy] Harris and Coach [Robert] Cappas.”

Sitting out of golf matches is no fun, but Mr. Sclafani is doing everything he can to help Coach Marinello and his teammates win matches. He’s having as much fun with the team as he cn.

“My high school experience has been great so far and I continue to look forward to my last two years,” Mr. Sclafani said. “I can’t wait to further my education and strive for greatness. Going to Huntington events like the bonfire, pep rallies and especially the football games on Saturdays are some of my favorite things to do.”
