Big Year Ahead for Junior Thomas Girimonti
September 21, 2022
Huntington junior Thomas Girimonti has a big year ahead. It’s packed with interesting, but challenging classes, volunteering, playing three sports and taking on a leadership position with the Blue Devil Varsity Club.
An affable young man, Mr. Girimonti has an easygoing personality. He has earned top grades while playing on Huntington’s golf, basketball and lacrosse teams.
Mr. Girimonti moves around the high school’s hallways and classrooms effortlessly. It seems like he knows everyone. He is well liked and fun to be around. He tries to ace every class and likes to be in the thick of things in every sport he plays.
“This past summer I spent my time working at the Huntington Bay Club dock and playing lacrosse,” Mr. Girimonti said. “I am looking forward to Virtual Enterprise and Advanced Placement Statistics classes.”
This fall, Mr. Girimonti is playing on the varsity golf team and working closely with head coach Michael Marinello. He said that he’s also looking forward to working with new boys’ basketball coach Peter Lipka and Blue Devil lacrosse head coach Julian Watts, who he has a long relationship with as a player.
The teenager plans to volunteer with Huntington’s Habitat for Humanity chapter alongside many of his classmates and faculty advisor Robert Gilmor III.
In addition to the Virtual Enterprise business course and AP Statistics, Mr. Girimonti’s academic schedule includes classes in AP US History, AP English Language and Composition, Italian IV Honors, Pre-calculus Honors and Regents Physics.
The junior is hoping to get recruited to play lacrosse in college. He has put an awful lot of time into the sport and he genuinely loves it.
“My high school experience has been enjoyable so far,” Mr. Girimonti said. “I am not yet interested in a specific school, but I plan to study business in college.”
