Woodhull School is on the Move

Woodhull Intermediate School is on the move. The new school year has only just begun, but things are already happening as 440 fourth, fifth and sixth graders settle into their routines and shift into high gear.

“September is a busy month for Woodhull students and staff,” Principal Scott Oshrin said. “Teachers are eager to meet parents at Meet the Teacher Night. Mr. [Keith] Meyers will be speaking with sixth grade families about the trip to Frost Valley. Fourth graders are excited for their annual social that will be held on Thursday. Thank you to the PTA executive board for organizing an event that will be a great way to kick off the school year for our newest Eagles.”

The Eagles are taking to flight as students dive into the academic and co-curricular programs available to them at Woodhull.

“Our student and staff recognition program will continue,” Mr. Oshrin said. “We will honor and celebrate our Eagles of the Month. One student from each homeroom will be selected as our Eagle of the Month. Students who demonstrate respect, responsibility and kindness will be considered for the award. It is always hard for teachers to select a winner because we have an awesome group of students.”

Woodhull students are also eagerly anticipating the arrival of a pair of soccer goals that will enhance the recess field.

“A big thank you to Woodhull parent Sherry Cesare for donating these two goals to our school,” Mr. Oshrin said. “The goals have been ordered and will hopefully get delivered soon. Soccer is a favorite among the students so they will surely enjoy.”

Mr. Oshrin said that a group of new faculty and staff members has already made a “big impact” at Woodhull.

The group includes Natalie Kropp (RTI math), Ivano Naccarato (RTI math), Katie Reilly (social worker), Marc McKee (French), Ruth Escobar (school counselor), Hannah VanWickler (orchestra) and Rob Dickson (security).
