Senior James Rosselli Eyes Career in Sports Broadcasting

October 14, 2022

James Rosselli loves to play golf. The Huntington High School senior is one of the best Blue Devil players, but while the teenager certainly enjoys his time on the links, he’s really a fan of all sports and hopes to stay close to them throughout his professional career and life.

“This past summer I worked as a golf caddy at the Huntington Country Club,” Mr. Rosselli said. “I caddied for members of the club and for people around the island who participated in golf outings at the country club. Through this job, I landed an internship with Long Island Lax Journal and will be a play by play announcer for them starting in December.”

Mr. Rosselli is especially enjoying the high school’s new Video Broadcasting course. “It is the first year that this class is being offered and it’s one of the first opportunities I’ve been able to have to learn more about the business and how to find success in it,” he said.

The senior is well regarded around the high school and he’s developed many productive relationships with his classmates and teachers. He gets along well with everyone.

“Someone that I am really looking forward to working with this year is Ms. [Kristen] Fiorenti, who is the teacher for the broadcasting class,” Mr. Rosselli said. “She knows a lot about what goes on behind the scenes of making a broadcast and I am really looking forward to hearing her tips and learning everything I can to get an advantage for when I go to college.”

One of six starters on the Blue Devil varsity golf team, the teenager is 6-2-1 through the first nine golf meets. Mr. Rosselli loves the sport and plans on playing it throughout his life.

“My high school experience has been great so far,” Mr. Rosselli said. He’s played on the high school basketball and baseball teams in addition to being a starter on the Blue Devil varsity golf squad.

Mr. Rosselli has earned excellent grades and he has already been inducted into the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Social Studies Honor Society.

The teenager is interested in Penn State, Fairfield, Virginia Tech and Sacred Heart. “In the future, I want to be a play by play announcer for a professional sports team,” Mr. Rosselli said. “This has always been my dream since I was a little kid and I feel it’s always something I saw myself being successful in.”
