Huntington Girls’ Tennis is All In for Pink Aid LI
October 12, 2022
When it comes to community service and helping others who are desperately in need of a helping hand, Huntington High School girls’ tennis players are all in. The Blue Devils are joining forces with their friends at neighboring Cold Spring Harbor to raise monies to benefit the efforts of Pink Aid Long Island, which provides critical financial assistance to those battling breast cancer.
The whole community is invited to participate in a fun round robin doubles tournament on Sunday, October 16 at the Cold Spring Harbor High School tennis court complex from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A minimum donation of $40 is requested via cash or check payable to Pink Aid LI. If you cannot make it, but would like to support the cause that is so near and dear to the hearts of the teenagers send it via Venmo using the term pinktennis.
A bake sale will be held nearby to help lift the total amount raised. There will be bagels and prizes for the players in the tournament.
“About six years ago my friend, Veronica Walkin and I erected a lemonade stand and donated all the money we made to Pink Aid, a charity our mothers were involved in,” said Huntington senior Anna Bell Young, who is spearheading the initiative for the Blue Devils and plays on the varsity tennis team. “From there we wanted to do something bigger. Since we play tennis together, we thought it would be a great way to incorporate something we love to better our community.”
A not for profit organization, Pink Aid Long Island helps those undergoing breast cancer treatment with meeting their household bills, including electric and heating expenses, groceries, medical bills, transportation to doctor’s appointments, wigs and related needs.
