Woodhull Students, Teachers & Staff Shine

Woodhull Intermediate School students, faculty and staff began the new school year on a high note. The school community is sure 2022/23 will see Woodhull reach new heights never before seen.
Principal Scott Oshrin announced September’s Eagle of the Month Award recipients and the group is most definitely star-studded. The honorees include:
Fourth grade: Camilla Carbrera, Mikiyla Blizzard, Nicolas Chan Camargo, John Nicholas, Isabella Castillo, Marco Garcia, Scarlett Maldonado Carbajal, Aiden Stephen
Fifth grade: Kennya Alvarado, Keyri Umamzor Benitez, William Dease, Sutter Flynn, Zachary Sperling, Lindsey Zilm
Sixth grade: Patricia Abruzzo, Elisabetta Ara, Amelia Brown, Zoe Chiclacos, Alexis Hanlon, Gabriel MacManus
“What a great first month of school,” Mr. Oshrin said. “I am so proud to work alongside such a dedicated faculty and staff. Our students have been working so hard each and every day. I look forward to a fantastic year of learning and fun ahead.”
A relatively new tradition, which debuted last fall, involves shout-outs by faculty and staff members to each other on a monthly basis. The individuals are typically cited for helping fellow faculty and staff members and for assisting students and making the 2022/23 school year one to remember at Woodhull Intermediate School.
September’s shout-outs include:
Jennifer Rommel: “Jen has made a quick adjustment to working with our team in sixth grade.”Mary Guzman-Lewis: “She has been so helpful to me and has taken every and any moment she can to help me learn the procedures here at the Huntington School District. I greatly appreciate her help.”Kaitlynn Abruzzo: “Kaitlynn is a lunch monitor who always is ready for the students with a smile! She asks if I need help with copying daily, what a treat.” Fifth grade team: “Every single member of the team welcomed me with open arms. Thank you.”Christina Droskoski, Karen Swanson and Meg Matthews: “For supporting and guiding me with new programs, beginning of the year stuff and for being great friends!”David Behling: “Always smiling, always helping; without even being asked. Jamar Jones: “Always brings a positive attitude and willingness to help his co-workers as well as the students. Plus, he’s a snappy dresser!”Robert Dickson: “He gave the courtyard a facelift by weeding, clipping and cleaning the overgrown weeds. A new clean start to a great year! Way to go Rob!”Carol-Ann Kinane: “Carol-Ann welcomes all students with open arms, makes them feel supported and valued and gives each student what they need to make them successful.”Elaine Leon: “Elaine has done a great job transitioning as a classroom teacher! Her students love going to her math class and learning math in a fun and exciting way that makes sense! Go Elaine.”Ivano Naccarato: “Working with Ivano has been great! He comes up with fun activities that he is always willing to share. You would never know that he's only been here for a few weeks! Excellent job Ivano!”Keith Meyers: “Thank you for always including me in decisions about the children and the curriculum. We make a great partnership.” Sixth grade blue team: “You are amazing and welcoming this year. I am very happy to work with you all.”David Behling: “Being so helpful without me needing to ask. He helped carry quite a few things into the school at the beginning of the school year.”Junette Gunter: “Always going above and beyond for the students while greeting everyone in the hallway with a smile.”Robert Dickson: “Thanks for being a positive male role model at recess. I see the boys practicing football and sportsmanship and I see the joy on their faces. Awesome.”Robert Dickson: “I heard that it was you that cleaned up the courtyard. “A lot of really great things can happen when we do things for each other, our students, and our school,” wrote Mr. Oshrin in a message to faculty and staff members. “I’m proud to work alongside you all.”
