Southdown’s Glittering September Stars Honored

October 4, 2022

With the new school year well underway at Southdown Primary School, students are starting to hit their stride as they go about their business around the building and in and out of classrooms.

Southdown’s September Stars of the Month were presented with Splash Awards by Principal Jill Amott-Erwig. The youngsters were recognized for their overall effort and performance in classrooms and all around the building and grounds.

The Splash Awards take their name from the school’s mascot; a dolphin, which is well known for splashing water on anyone nearby.

September’s Splash Award recipients include:

Universal Pre-Kindergarten: Declan McDonough; Kindergarten: Aiden Grijalva Franco, Isaiah Booker, Jack Login, Henry Weston; First Grade: Nathaniel Weston, Oscar Gonzalez Robles, Liam Velasquez Vilorio, Maryelena Acosta Fuentes; Second Grade: Carley Oliva, Wyatt Lanzilotta, Emma Kuhn; Third Grade: Megan McCarthy, John “Jack” Golden, Miguel Pittman, Alexa Giron Larin, Iris Lopez Torres

Southdown’s second year principal earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at Long Island University, CW Post College in 2004 and 2006, respectively.
