Free Fencing Intramural Program Offered

October 3, 2022

J. Taylor Finley Middle School and Huntington High School students currently enrolled in grades 7-12 are invited to participate in a free intramural boys’ and girls’ fencing program this fall.

These free school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about the sport of fencing. If you are thinking about trying out for the Blue Devil team during the winter season, this intramural program is for you.

The award recipients were proud to be recognized and happy to pose for a commemorative photo with Ms. Siegel outside the school’s main entrance. The youngsters posed with their certificates and smiled.

Intramurals will run on Tuesday evenings from 5-7 p.m. in the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School gymnasium through November 1.

Attendance at all sessions is not required. Bring a water bottle and come dressed to physically condition and fence. Sweatpants are fine, but no shorts, please. Lace-up sneakers are recommended

For more information (or any questions), please e-mail Coach Michelle O’Brien at mich_obrien@optimum.net or Coach Vin O’Garra at vco17@live.com.

Introducing the sport to newcomers in a relaxed atmosphere is one of the goals of this free intramural program. The Blue Devils expect to field outstanding boys’ and girls’ teams this winter and county for league and county titles.
