H-ton Virtual Enterprise Classes Network at Luncheon

December 23, 2022

Three Virtual Enterprise business classes at Huntington High School traveled to Atlantis Banquets & Events at the aquarium in Riverhead earlier this week for a networking luncheon with hundreds of other teenagers pursuing similar studies.

Business teacher Paige Furman accompanied the students, including trade show coordinators Ruby Meidenman, Patrick Knieriem and Adriana Abbatiello.

“Our three trade show coordinators, made it all happen,” Mrs. Furman said. “They organized and coordinated the entire trade show process for their firms and ensured the event ran smoothly.

Students delivered company sales pitches, networked with other firms, conversed with mentors and business partners, displayed marketing materials, conducted sales, improved communication skills and supported the East End’s Virtual Enterprise economy.

The Westhampton Beach High School Virtual Enterprise class organizes the event, which drew representatives from 30 Suffolk high school firms.

Virtual Enterprise is a full-year, one credit honors business class available to Huntington High School juniors and seniors. “Virtual Enterprise is a simulated business that is set up and run by students to prepare them for working in a real business environment,” according to the course bulletin. Course grades carry an “honors weighting.” Reduced rate college course credit is available on an optional basis through Farmingdale State University.
