Sophomore Rosie Arner Lifts the Mood of Huntington

December 15, 2022

Rosie Arner is a happy Huntington High School sophomore who has developed many rewarding friendships that sustain her during the ups and downs of life as a teenager.

Loyalty. It’s an important word to Ms. Arner and she understands exactly what it means. Her circle of friends is fiercely loyal to each other and she is always there for any of them when they need her. They are there for her, too. It’s relationships that keep the sophomore’s enthusiasm running high each day. She’s one of the most sociable people you’ll ever meet.

“I would consider myself to be a very outgoing person, as most of my friends say I’m easy to talk to,” Ms. Arner said. “I like to make people feel comfortable. Lifting the mood up any chance I get is most important to me.”

A proud member of the Huntington Highsteppers competitive dance team, Ms. Arner devotes an enormous amount of time to the group.

“I’m taking classes in fashion illustration and design and career and financial management as well as my main core courses,” said Ms. Arner about her current academic schedule. “My favorite class has to be career and financial management because it’s teaching me real world scenarios such as getting a job, buying a home, etc.”

The teenager is always up for having some fun. “Last summer I went to Disney to dance in the Disney parade,” she said. “My experience at the high school has been great so far. I’ve met so many amazing and comforting teachers and classmates.”

Ms. Arner is a gentle soul who interacts easily with everyone. “One teacher who has made my experience at Huntington High School amazing has to be Ms. [Tara] Rossy,” she said.

While the teenager lives in the here and now, she also has given some thought to what the future might hold. “I am very excited to start looking into college and I would love to major in business,” Ms. Arner said. “In 10 years I hope to be pursuing my dream of being a stockbroker.”
