Brass Ensemble Entertains at Board of Ed Meeting
December 13, 2022
Huntington High School’s highly regarded brass ensemble entertained the crowd at Monday night’s public meeting of the Huntington School Board in Adam Spector Auditorium at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School.
The musicians performed three pieces, including “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Chanukah Medley” and a set of traditional melodies. Music teacher Dr. Jason Giachetti directed the holiday ensemble.
The music program annually performs a holiday selection at the trustees’ December meeting.
The musicians included Liam Tucker (trumpet), Emma Glascock (trumpet), Dana Saramago (horn), Jack Semelsberger (baritone) and Kellee Benitez (tuba).
“Our talented musicians have been in high demand both in and beyond the local community as the holidays approach,” Huntington Superintendent James W. Polansky said. “It was a joy to have the group of brass instrumentalists share their delightful sounds at last night’s Board meeting; the last before the new year, to help usher in the season.”
A Huntington music teacher since September 2000, Dr. Giachetti is a graduate of Massapequa High School. He obtained undergraduate and graduate degrees at SUNY Potsdam and the Crane School of Music and Hofstra University, respectively. He earned a doctorate of musical arts in percussion performance at Five Towns College.
Dr. Giachetti is also an active clinician and has presented at national and state conferences, the Society of Ethics in Education symposium and at the Crane School of Music and Five Towns College.
