H-ton Musicians Perform at Suffolk Business Luncheon
December 12, 2022
Suffolk school business officials were impressed as they filed into their holiday gathering and took their seats at the Hamlet in Commack. A group of nine sensational Huntington High School musicians were on hand to entertain the crowd of 175, which included representatives from dozens of county school districts.
The teenagers were accompanied by high school orchestra director James DiMeglio and department coordinator Brian Stellato. The group included: Violin: Charlotte Gordon, Liva Camarata, Hannah Byers, Shaina Linker, Lily Tierney; Viola: Andrea Mani-Munoz, Damaris Mani-Munoz; Cello: Charles Siepel; Bass: Matthew Armstrong.
The nine musicians range in grade from 10-12. They have all scored at level five or above in the New York State School Music Association evaluation program for performing students.
The students entertained officials as the proceeded through the facility’s large lobby. The Huntington musicians performed in separate groups of five and four. While one group took a break to eat, the other took its place and performed.
Once the entire group of school officials had taken their seats in the large dining room, the Huntington students performed a pair of delightful songs as a full group for the attentive audience.
The Suffolk chapter of the Association of School Business Officials is led by Huntington Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Management Services Dr. Kathleen Acker. As the association’s president, she was able to showcase the Huntington UFSD musicians and she enjoyed introducing the teenagers to her colleagues.
