Blue Devil Band Preps for October 16 Home Show

October 7, 2022

The renowned Huntington Blue Devil marching band will host its biennial home show on Sunday, October 16. The fun begins at 12 p.m. on the Blue Devil Stadium turf field. Bands from around the metropolitan area will compete for top honors in their respective division.

The Huntington Blue Devil marching band's home show is set for Sunday, October 16.

The Blue Devil band’s new co-directors, Andre Rizzuto and Patrick Neary will lead the group into the show, which is being coordinated by the Band Parents Association of Huntington.

Bands from Deer Park, Nyack, Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Floral Park, Sachem, Walt Whitman, Hicksville and Brentwood will be on hand. The Blue Devils will also be performing.

“There is a certain electricity that goes around the Huntington Blue Devil marching band when it performs on the Big H, making it an exciting day for the players and fans alike,” Band Parents Association of Huntington co-President Arienne Lima said. “We are so proud of how much they have accomplished as a team this season.”

Huntington captured third place honors at last year’s state championships at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. First organized in 1934 by high school music teacher James Cloyd Doty, an Ohio native and Oberlin College graduate, the Blue Devil band is among New York’s oldest and best.

“The Band Parents Association of Huntington is so excited to host the New York State Field Band Conference competition on the Blue Devil grounds this year,” Band Parents Association of Huntington co-President Erin Hannigan said. “We look forward to hosting schools from Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey this year. All the bands have dedicated countless hours to perfect their shows. This event is a big fundraiser for the Huntington Blue Devil marching band and so important to the entire community. Everyone is welcome. It should be an exciting afternoon.”

Tickets for the show can be purchased at the gate on October 16 for $9. All proceeds will be plowed back into the band programs at Huntington High School. Learn more about the BPA by visiting www.bandparentsofhuntington.net.
