Sophie Bradford does everything with enthusiasm. A bright and cheery young woman, the Huntington High School senior is prized by her classmates and teachers and for good reason. She earns top grades, participates in clubs and sports and has won awards across academic disciplines.
Ms. Bradford visited California and her grandmother in the run-up to the new school year, but now back home, she is off to a great start to her final year of high school.
“This past summer I spent most of my time being a swim instructor and lifeguard at the Huntington YMCA,” Ms. Bradford said. “I worked with the camp children during the week and was able to work with many amazing kids and staff. I also taught swim lessons on the weekends and privately. I also made sure to hang-out with friends and soak up the sun!”
Universally regarded as a sweet and pleasant young woman, Ms. Bradford is an exceptionally kind and sincere teenager. “I am excited to work with the honor societies that I have been inducted and to help the school community and our community as a whole,” she said. “I am particularly excited to hold a leadership role in the French Honor Society. This will also aid in my work toward qualifying for the Seal of Biliteracy.
The senior is especially looking forward to her Advanced Placement Physics and AP Calculus classes “as I am a math and science centered student,” Ms. Bradford said. “I am excited to further my learning and meet new teachers as I begin my final year at Huntington High School.”
This will mark Ms. Bradford’s sixth year running with the Blue Devil varsity winter and spring girls’ track teams. But in a change from past years, she decided to bypass the fall cross country season “and give myself some time to adjust to my heavy course load,” she said.
The senior has a way of standing out without trying. She’s articulate and graceful and has a way of compiling achievements while not seeking the limelight.
“I hope to follow in my sister’s footsteps and study abroad in England for college,” Ms. Bradford said. “I have begun the application process and have been looking at schools all around the UK. I am looking to study natural sciences, which allows me flexibility between the areas of biology, chemistry, physics, math and computing.”
