The Huntington Blue Devil marching band’s home show kicks-off on Sunday (October 16) at 12 noon at Blue Devil Stadium. Many of the top bands from around the metropolitan area will compete for honors. A crowd of 2,000 is expected to attend throughout the day.
Bands from Deer Park, Nyack, Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Floral Park, Sachem, Walt Whitman, Hicksville and Brentwood will be on hand. The Blue Devils will also be performing.
Nadeera Ali, Emma Hannigan and Isabella Lima are the Blue Devils’ drum majors. Rachel Morina is the field major. The band and color guard consist of about 100 students.
Sunday’s show is being coordinated by the Band Parents Association of Huntington. An incredible day of musicianship and pageantry awaits fans.

“The 2022 Huntington Blue Devil marching band program is thrilled to have co-directors Andre Rizzuto and Patrick Neary on board for this season and to host eight band programs from across the metropolitan area on Sunday,” said Brian Stellato, Huntington UFSD’s coordinator of K-12 art and music education. “This type of event takes so much hard work and dedication from our students, staff, parent volunteers, community members, alumni and friends and family. The band’s student leadership includes color guard captains David Chavez, Emely Cruz and Aislyn Franciscovich; brass captain Emma Glascock; woodwind captain Cecilia Kye; flute section leaders Donna Lazo and Kayla Murillo; clarinet section leaders Danielle Mendikyan and Erin Purcell; alto sax section leader Cecilia Kye; low windwood/brass section leader Yoanny Suarez; trumpet section leaders Emma Glascock and Liam Tucker; battery captain Jackson Danseglio and pit section leaders Sarah Corwin and Katherine Estrada.
Huntington garnered third place honors at last year’s state championships at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. First organized in 1934 by high school music teacher James Cloyd Doty, an Ohio native and Oberlin College graduate, the Blue Devil band is among New York’s oldest and most highly regarded.
