The Huntington High School varsity girls’ basketball team is once again expected to be one of Suffolk’s best with several returning veterans and a cast of exciting newcomers. Try-outs for the varsity and JV teams begin Monday, November 14 at 3 p.m. in the high school gym.

All Huntington High School girls are invited to try-out. Tryouts will be held daily from 3:00-5:30 p.m. for at least three days or until the team is selected. Once rosters are finalized, practices will be held Monday through Friday from 3-5:30 p.m. and on Saturday at a time to be determined.

Students trying out on November 14 should come prepared to play with shorts, t-shirt and sneakers. Every prospective player needs to submit a parent permission form.

Varsity head coach Michael Kaplan and assistant coach Marissa Bergmann are returning to the bench. JV Coach of the Year Katie Reilly is also coming back. Tim Madden and Jordan Ioviero will coach the two Finley Middle School girls’ basketball teams.

Here are brief profiles of the high school coaches:

In 12 seasons as Huntington’s head coach, Kaplan is 153-74 for a .674 winning percentage.
