Huntington High School drama club members will take the stage this weekend for three performances of the group’s production of the delightful show, “Almost Maine.”

The actors and stage crew members have mastered their roles following weeks of rehearsals under the supportive and experienced eyes of drama club advisor Michael Schwendemann and his team of professionals.

Performances are set for Friday at 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. all in the high school auditorium. The facility is handicapped accessible. Tickets are available at the door priced at $10. Senior citizens (aged 65 and up) will be admitted free to the Saturday matinee.

Huntington drama club faculty advisor Michael Schwendemann is handling directing and musical staging. Michael Zignon is the technical director and Victoria Hart is the student director. Carrie Semelsberger and Michael Schwendemann are dealing with set dressings. The stage backdrop is from Grosh Backdrops & Drapery and Carrie Semelsberger and Aria Hannah are in charge of costumes.

“What is love?” Mr. Schwendemann asks. “A simple question that has no answer. If I asked everyone who is reading this right now, each and every definition would be different. ‘Almost, Maine’ addresses love from all directions; lost love, unknown love, new love, undiscovered love, and true love. Words, words that translate to emotions; what does it feel like to lose the love of someone? What if that undiscovered love stays a mystery forever? The joy of finding that special someone that is there just for you, or that simple glance as someone looks into your eyes and you know that they are yours for the rest of your life. Whether we believe in love at first sight or think that love needs to be nurtured and will bloom over time — this much is true — it is something we all yearn for; that connection with another human being that we can share our hopes, our dreams, our hearts, and ultimately our lives with . . . enjoy the show and share it with someone you love.”

The cast features Layna Abraham, William Berry, Dylan Brinn, Michaela Dopico, Landry Flynn, Mason Gomez, Emily Kustera, Maggie O’Toole, Sofia Rodriquez, Alexa Schirripa, Kyra Scott, Jack Semelsberger, Sam Soric, Josephine Sullivan, Lily Tierney, Alex Tine and Sophia Tine.

The stage crew consists of Ethan Ambrosio, Lily Froggatt Bale, Kellee Benitez, Hannah Byers, Ada C., David Chavez, Koi Crowder, Dianna D., Katerina Damiano, Rihard Davis, Annika Galvin, Jonah Gillenwater, Sofia Gomez, Mariana Diaz Gonzalez, Matthew Jimenez, Clarissa Marcelino-LaQua, Danielle Mendikyan, Rachel Learned, Renata Meiram, Ibukun Olabomi, Reina Andrade-Ortez, Jillian Pascucci, Toni Reyes, Deandre Simmons, Anne Tyrrell and Madeline Zelaya.
