Henry Stein always manages to find his way to the top. The Huntington High School senior has been excelling in the classroom for many years, combining a sharp intellect with a sly sense of humor. He intends to study architecture at Syracuse University.
Mr. Stein has been a standout since his earliest days at Washington Primary School. He goes about his daily routine in an unassuming way, but he is always in the thick of things. He’s quick witted and usually finds himself in the right place at the right time.
“I chose Syracuse because it’s been my favorite school growing up and it’s also a great school for architecture, which I plan to study,” Mr. Stein said. “I think it will help me greatly in the future.”
The teenager said the key to his success has been choosing the “right classes.” Mr. Stein said he knew it was important to enroll in classes that were interesting and that captured his attention.
“Huntington’s teachers have prepared me for college by helping throughout high school,” Mr. Stein said. “They’ve always been supportive and have shaped every one of my decisions up to this date.”
The senior has garnered awards in the science research program and in the National History Day initiative. Mr. Stein has been on Huntington’s High Honor Roll and is well-liked and respected by teachers and classmates.
“At Syracuse, I’m not really sure what I will get involved in right away,” Mr. Stein said. “Since architecture is a pretty intensive major, I think I will just stick to my studies in the beginning and figure out what I will do along the way.”
Mr. Stein earns top grades, but he’s a people person, too. He enjoys being with his friends and experiencing all that life has to offer. He likes to have fun.
“I’ve been doing an internship at Hoffman and Grayson, an architecture and interior design firm in Huntington,” said Mr. Stein, who has also participated in the activities of the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, English Honor Society and Math Honor Society.
No one at Washington Primary School is surprised at Mr. Stein’s high school success all these years later. He’s carved out a confortable path for himself, always taking the high road and always keeping at least one eye on his future goals.
“Over the past summer, I traveled to Israel and got to tour around the entire country,” Mr. Stein said. “It was the first time being fully immersed in another country, so it was definitely a really cool experience.”
