The 2022 winter season will always be remembered in Huntington High School athletic lore after a remarkable 17 Blue Devils won All-State honors in wrestling, boys’ swimming, boys’ track and field and girls’ track and field.
Robbie Smith garnered All-State honors in wrestling, finishing fourth at 215 lbs. in the state tournament at Albany. Jonathan Larice, William Weber, Pierre Leroy, Evan Spagnoletti and Lucas Spagnoletti all swam to All-State recognition, medaling in multiple events at the state swimming and diving championships at Ithaca.
Analisse Batista won the state championship in the 600m run and Kiana Nosile was the state runner-up in shot put. Batista, Hope Bilkey, Elizabeth James and Megan Donaghy all ran to All-State honors in the 4x400m relay at the state track and field championships at Staten Island.
Nikolai Seferian, Nicholas Grover, Quincy Chery, Jahmar Francis, Julio Martinez and Matteo Armstrong were All-State in the 4x400m relay at the state track and field championships at Staten Island.
“It’s been a terrific year in all respects for the Huntington interscholastic athletic program in the face of numerous challenges,” Superintendent James W. Polansky. “The success that our student-athletes have experienced this year in the classroom and on the field/court is beyond worthy of recognition and commendation. Further, the school community can take considerable pride in an unprecedented number who recently completed the winter season having garnered All-State honors. Congratulations to an outstanding group, as well as to their coaches and families!”
