Finley Girls’ Flag Football Intramurals Set

The Finley flag football intramural program begins this week

March 9, 2022

The flag football craze in Huntington UFSD is about to hit J. Taylor Finley Middle School. Girls’ flag football intramurals will be held after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next two weeks.

Girls’ enrolled in grades seven and eight are invited to participate in the program. These school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about the sport of flag football.

The program will run on the following dates: Thursday, March 10; Tuesday, March 15; Thursday, March 17; Tuesday, March 22. Each session will run from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Participants will be able to take the late bus home from each session.

Sessions will be held on the outdoor grass field or in the gymnasium if there is inclement weather.

Attendance at all sessions is not required. Participate when it is convenient. Participants should come dressed and ready to play.

Finley physical education teachers Jordan Ioviero and Marissa Bergmann will be coordinating the program. All girls at Finley are welcome to participate.

A similar intramural program is underway at Huntington High School. Eight Suffolk high schools are piloting the sport in actual competition. Section XI is considering adding it as a varsity sport. If it does, the Blue Devils intend to field a team.
