Huntington High School’s Class of 2022 will march into Blue Devil Stadium on Friday at 6 p.m. for the school’s 161st commencement exercises. A crowd of about 2,000 is expected to attend.
The ceremony will include traditional addresses by valedictorian Erin Ye and salutatorian Luke Rinaldi along with Principal Brenden Cusack, Superintendent James W. Polansky and Huntington School Board President Christine Biernacki.
Several seniors will take leading roles in the event. Quincy Chery and Naysa Escobar will serve as masters of ceremony. Jahiem Hawkins, Emily Roberts, Olivia Conte, Cianna Batts, and Theadora Carnesi will introduce various classmates and officials prior to their addresses.
Class of 2022 faculty advisors Patricia Avelli and Donna Nugent will announce the names of the graduates as they make their way to the stage. Huntington School Board members will present the seniors with their diplomas.
Class of 2022 President Theadora Carnesi and Vice President Ashley Genao will announce the presentation of a gift to the high school early in the commencement program.
As is tradition, the seniors are expected to personalize and decorate the tops of their caps in a colorful way. A rehearsal was held on Wednesday afternoon. Candidates for graduation have been asked to report the high school on Friday at 4:45 p.m. to check in and get organized.
Class of 2022 members will march into Blue Devil Stadium to Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance No. 1.” The Huntington chamber choir will perform Francis Scott Key’s “Star Spangled Banner.”
