As Southdown Primary School races toward the finish line of the 2021/22 school year, Principal Jill Amott-Erwig took some time out to celebrate a group of outstanding boys and girls who have been working very hard this spring.
Southdown students have enjoyed a great year. While it wasn’t “normal” in a pre-pandemic sense, it was several steps in that direction. Everyone is hopeful that 2022/23 will see a return to many of the cherished traditions that have been shelved until the public health crisis fully abates.
Southdown honored its Stars of the Month with Splash Awards, which is only fitting since the school’s mascot is a dolphin. The youngsters were recognized for their overall effort and performance in classrooms and all around the building and grounds
Ms. Amott-Erwig along with Southdown’s faculty and support staff members are all proud of the honorees, who shined through the month of May.
May’s honorees include:
Universal Pre-Kindergarten: Lia Martinez Padilla; Kindergarten: Wesley O’Dwyer, Nayeli Cabrera Zavala, Gia Spagnoletti, Brianna Uzho; First grade: Francesco “Frankie” Savatta, Brianna Alvarez Tevez, Madison Gallienne; Second grade: Nancy Yanes Ulloa, Alexis Nasifoglu, John “Jack” McCabe, Linus Tollkuhn, Justin Banegas Galdamez; Third grade: Benito Delgado III, Jeremy Beltran Velasquez, Amora Ingram, Matteo Chavez Diaz
“We are thrilled for these youngsters and proud of all our students here at Southdown,” Ms. Amott-Erwig said.
