A master game developer, programmer and favorite among math teachers nationwide, Mr. Tang is the creator of Tangy Tuesday and Wordy Wednesday. He presented live math instruction for students spread across kindergarten through third grade via Zoom allowing classes to participate in his fun and engaging math lessons without leaving the comfort of their classroom.
Math guru Greg Tang presented virtual math lessons for Flower Hill students
First grade teacher Alexandra Franco’s class participated in “Make 10 Word Problems.” Students were very excited to interact with Mr. Tang while solving math word problems. Second graders in the classes of teachers Tiffanie Kelly and Arlette Epstein’s classes worked with Mr. Tang on regrouping word problems.
The next day over 15,000 students were in the live third grade class that was beamed into classrooms across America. The energy was high in Flower Hill teacher Allison Conlon’s third grade class as Mr. Tang and students worked to solve word problems focusing on equal groups.
“Students were prepared to show off their knowledge of tape diagrams and how they can be used to represent multiplication equations,” Mrs. Conlon said. “They were excited to show off their models on their whiteboards to Greg, who later acknowledged and praised their work! At the end of each class, Mr. Tang and the students had a dance party to celebrate the excitement of learning math.”
