Regan Sansiviero has played her heart out for Huntington High School and she has gained notice beyond Blue Devil fans. Bucknell University has recruited the senior to play on its NCAA Division I lacrosse team and the teenager couldn’t be more excited at the prospect.

“I chose Bucknell because of the academics, beautiful campus and its overall positive environment,” Ms. Sansiviero said. “Bucknell is a smaller school with a bigger feel, which I feel is the perfect setting for me. I am grateful to have the opportunity to play on a NCAA Division I lacrosse team and am planning on studying business at the Freeman College of Management. I believe Bucknell will help me achieve success in my professional life and will give me the opportunity to gain valuable experiences.”

The teenager has won over everyone at Huntington High School with her easygoing and fun-loving personality. Ms. Sansiviero is an all-around nice person with a very strong work ethic who cherishes and adores her family and friends.

“Huntington has provided me with the ideal environment to grow and learn,” Ms. Sansiviero said. “I plan on using the skills I have learned over the past four years not only at Bucknell, but for the rest of my life. One that I believe stands out to me are my time management skills. Over the last four years, I have been faced with having to balance a rigorous course load, sports practices, meetings and more. With the help of my teachers and friends, I have been able to learn how to successfully manage my busy schedule and I plan on utilizing my time management skills at Bucknell.”

Several generations of Ms. Sansiviero’s family are Huntington High School graduates and she is proud to carry on that tradition. Her grandfather, Pete Sansiviero is a 1950’s era Blue Devil star who attends as many of the teenager’s home and away meets and games as he can.

“I have had many great teachers my past four years, but one that I am extremely close to is Mrs. [Ayallah] Jeddah,” the teenager said. “Freshman year, I decided to try out ceramics and sculpture and I have taken the class ever since. Art hasn’t always been my greatest skill, but Mrs. Jeddah has always pushed me to put in my best effort every day. The support I have received from my teachers is something that makes Huntington very special to me.”

The senior has played on the varsity tennis, basketball and lacrosse teams. Ms. Sansiviero has been inducted into the National Honor Society and English Honor Society. She participates in the Key Club and Interact Club. “I have really enjoyed the clubs I have been a part of because they focus on volunteer work and giving back to the community, which is something that I value,” she said.

The teenager’s favorite place isn’t really that far away. “I have been fortunate enough to travel to many places because of family trips or lacrosse tournaments, but my favorite place in the world would have to be Montauk,” Ms. Sansiviero. “I have been going to Montauk my entire life and it is a place that is really special to me because I have spent time there with family and friends.”

At Bucknell, Ms. Sansiviero will keep busy with classes and lacrosse, but she hopes to get involved in various clubs “that will allow me to learn more about business and expand my knowledge of the industry,” she said. “In addition to joining business clubs, I hope to find other clubs and organizations that cater to my interests and allow me to get involved and meet new people with similar interests.”

While she may be heading out of town for college, Ms. Sansiviero will always remember her hometown. She definitely qualifies as a “Huntington girl.”

“Huntington is a special place because it is home to such a positive and supportive environment that is presented through both the teachers and students,” Ms. Sansiviero said. “As a student, it is very comforting to know that you have a strong support system of staff and peers who want you to succeed. I think that the family community of this school is what plays a huge role in the prosperity of Huntington students. Huntington also has so many excelling programs in both academics and athletics. I truly believe that at Huntington, every student can find an activity or program that satisfies their interests.”

Ms. Sansiviero hopes the Blue Devil basketball team wins a championship in the coming weeks and pushes as far as possible into post-season play. She’s also looking forward to one final season in a Huntington girls’ lacrosse uniform, where she will play for three new coaches, who are all excited to work with her.

“My high school experience has been nothing but enjoyable and unforgettable at Huntington,” Ms. Sansiviero said. “I have been fortunate enough to have been a part of so many incredible teams and clubs during my time at Huntington. I have been surrounded by so many incredible coaches, teachers and classmates throughout high school and I wouldn’t trade my experience at Huntington for the world.”
