The Huntington boys’ and girls’ indoor track and field programs enjoyed several standout performances at the Molloy Stanner Games at the Armory in New York City. The results put the Blue Devils among the best in the county, state and even nation.
Analisse Batista blew away the field in the 600m run to win in a time of 1:35.05. The Huntington senior stared down 80 entries to post the eye-popping result.
Jahmar Francis helped Huntington medal in the relays.
Senior Kiana Nosile easily overwhelmed a field of 11 in shot put with a toss of 40-09.00 feet to capture a gold medal.
Senior Olivia Conte excelled in the 55m hurdles, grabbing a silver medal in a time of 8.53 seconds, right on the heels of Bishop Loughlin senior Brinesha Derrick-Bain wo finished first. Conte’s superb performance came in an event that drew 44 entries.
Senior Julio Martinez finished third in a field of 39 entries in the 300m dash in the swift time of 35.68 seconds.
Huntington’s John Chirico, Quincy Chery, Jahmar Francis and Julio Martinez raced past the field of 22 in the 4x400m relay in a time of 3:31.18
The Blue Devil boys’ 1600m sprint medley relay consisting of Jahmar Francis, Andy Suazo, John Fajardo and Ethan Goleski placed second in a time of 3:55.11.
The Huntington girls’ 4x200m relay also won gold, turning back a field of 22 in time of 1:48.04. The relay included Olivia Conte, Analisse Batista, Megan Donaghy and Hope Bilkey.
Huntington coaches are looking to peak their teams for the league, county and state championships.
