Woodhull Intermediate School’s Shared Decision Making Committee is spearheading a school beautification effort.
“We are painting the entire school Huntington blue and white,” Woodhull Principal Scott Oshrin said. Students will be working to select and paint various motivational and multicultural quotes and sayings on the newly painted walls.
“This process will happen after school with support from teachers and the PTA,” Mr. Oshrin said. Woodhull art teacher Todd Hiscox plans to paint a new mural in the front of the school.
Woodhull parent David Bergmann is pitching in to help, too. His landscaping company will be cleaning flower beds in the front of the building and adding mulch and new plantings.
“In the spring, we will work with the PTA and Mr. Bergmann to redesign the first courtyard,” Mr. Oshrin said. “The goal is to create an outdoor learning space where students thrive. We plan to include outdoor seating, a rock garden and much more.”
The Woodhull community is rallying behind the beautification effort. “I believe the physical space of a school should be warm and welcoming and create a sense of Huntington and Woodhull pride,” Mr. Oshrin said. “A special thank you to George Austin, who leads the district’s facilities department and his team for their support in helping to beautify this amazing school.”
