Keeping Flower Hill Primary School students on their toes in a fun way takes many different forms and even extends to the cafeteria.
Flower Hill cafeteria manager, Jackie Apelsinov has lots of fun while serving students nutritious and delicious meals. In the days leading up to the holiday break, she had her own version of ‘Elf on the Shelf’ with Luke on the lunch line.
Flower Hill students had fun trying to spot Luke while on the lunch line.
“Each day, Luke was spotted by students while waiting for their meals,” Flower Hill Principal Lucia Laguarda said. “Jackie told the students that Luke was on a nutrition safari, visiting them at Flower Hill. Luke found himself in lots of fun and wintery situations.”
At the end of the week, one of the students was randomly selected to take Luke home. “Luke, of course, was very happy and was always wearing his mask,” Ms. Laguards said.
It was a fun way to conclude the first four months of the 2021/22 school year. With classes resuming this week, Flower Hill students are tackling their daily work with typical enthusiasm. Challenges keep the youngsters motivated and they take delight in trying to master “difficult” topics and assignments.
A visit to the cafeteria is always eagerly anticipated. It not only satisfies any appetite, but it’s fun, too. Huntington UFSD strives to offers tasty and nutritious food choices for students. The cafeteria is also a place to socialize and the youngsters take full advantage of the opportunity.
