Huntington jumped out to an early 15-5 lead at Copiague before seizing a 34-12 advantage by halftime. It was smooth sailing the rest of the way for the Blue Devils.
Despite the lopsided win, the Blue Devils acknowledged there was a degree of sloppiness that they are determined to erase as the team moves into the playoffs.

“It definitely wasn’t our cleanest game ever, but we still came out with a win,” Plachta said. “We are going to take the next few days to clean up some plays and continue working on our skills so we can come out ready to go for round one of playoffs.”
Plachta’s scoring included a three-pointer and 13 points from the free throw line along with 14 rebounds and five steals. Katie Browne had 10 points, six steals and five assists in the winning effort.
Junie Nosile also played a great game with 10 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks. Makaylah Frazier scored six points and eighth grader Jolie Weinschreider had three points on the first varsity three pointer of her career. Teddi Carnesi and Gianna Forte scored two points each.
The Blue Devils once again turned in an impressive defensive effort, forcing turnovers all over the court. “We pride ourselves on our defense,” head coach Michael Kaplan said.
