The stars appear to be lining up perfectly for Grace Allen to enjoy a spectacular senior year at Huntington High School. The enthusiastic teenager plans to immerse herself in challenging classes, leadership positions with several clubs and high end athletics as she strives to help her team win a championship.
“I’m pleased to say that this summer has been a peaceful one,” Ms. Allen said. “As for most students, eleventh grade can be a stressful year and by the time summer arrived, I think my friends and I were all ready for a break. I’ve mainly been spending my time preparing for my senior course load, organizing my applications for college, taking ballet and art classes, volunteering whenever possible and having fun with my friends and family.”
A dynamic young woman by any measure or any definition, Ms. Allen is articulate, intellectually sharp and dedicated to everything she holds dear.
“While I couldn’t be more grateful and excited to participate in all of my senior courses, I am especially looking forward to studying Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition with Mrs. [Kelly] Quintero, as well as AP U.S. Government and Politics with Mrs. [Kaitlyn] Hanft,” Ms. Allen said. “I’ve always been a diligent writer and have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to take both courses since I was a freshman, as I’ve heard from previous students how beneficial they are when improving skills in the humanities.”
The sun is always shining in Ms. Allen’s life. There are no bad days. She looks for the good in everything and everyone. She has many loyal and loving friends and the high school’s faculty corps has grown to respect and admire the teenager.
“Throughout my entire experience in Huntington UFSD, I have been blessed to work with such wonderful teachers and advisors and am genuinely so thankful for the help and support of each and every one of them over the years,” Ms. Allen said. “This year specifically, I am very excited to collaborate with Mrs. [Aimee] Antorino and Mrs. [Kristina] Morell on our school newspaper, The Dispatch; Mrs. [Suzi] Biagi in A World Of Difference Club and Mr. [Robert] Gilmor in Habitat for Humanity.”
Ms. Allen’s leadership qualities are second to none. She is also resourceful, creative and trustworthy as well as being able to inspire a group.
“I feel particularly honored to be entering my last year at Huntington High School as both editor of The Dispatch and president of A World Of Difference,” Ms. Allen said. “Being members of both clubs since my freshman year, each one has become very dear to my heart and I am so looking forward to seeing the incredible work my peers and I can achieve together. I am also hoping to continue my work in Habitat for Humanity, Key Club and Grandfriends this year.”
Trying to make the world around her a better place is an important part of Ms. Allen’s life. But she also cares about improving herself in every possible way and growing as a person. She is always looking to put the best version of herself out there.
“My experience at Huntington High School has truly been special,” Ms. Allen said. “Over the last few years, I have had the privilege to participate in Huntington’s wonderful field hockey program, as well as A World of Difference club, drama club, Habitat for Humanity, Grandfriends, Key Club and our school newspaper. It’s strange to think that in just one year my friends and I will be high school graduates, but we are all ready and excited for one last year full of memories.”
The stars have lined up in perfect fashion for what Ms. Allen hopes and believes will be one of the most memorable years of her life.
“As of right now, one of my top schools is Boston College and I am enjoying taking the time to explore all of my options with my family,” Ms. Allen said. “Regarding my career interests, I’m currently gravitating towards studies in psychology, English literature and nutrition.”
