The Huntington High School junior varsity and varsity girls’ volleyball teams will take the court for their first practice on Monday, August 22 at 7:30 a.m. The Blue Devils will be practicing and holding their matches at J. Taylor Finley Middle School.

Todd Donaghy is returning as the varsity head coach. Huntington High School teacher Lauren Blackburn will coach the JV. Blackburn was previously Cold Spring Harbor’s varsity head coach before joining the faculty in Huntington.

Senior Megan Donaghy and junior Kate Barba will be looked upon to lead the Blue Devils this fall. Donaghy is coming off a great junior year campaign. She had a team best number of kills for the second consecutive season with 96. (A kill is when a player’s attack isn’t returned by an opponent.) She was also second on the team with 116 digs and 23 service aces.

Barba tallied 76 kills in 42 games as a freshman and then notched 84 kills in 35 games last fall as a sophomore. She led the team with 127 digs and was first in service points with 78.

Seniors Lauren Gennarelli, Renee McKean and Haileigh Smith are also returning to the varsity.

Coming back from last year’s JV squad are sophomores Cynthia Argueta Fuentes, Brianna Borenstein, Lindsay Depeine, Lauren Donaghy and Isabella Morris; juniors Anny Carrillo-Polanco, Zaida Correal, Joanna Lee, Neurdia Osias, Aylana Powell and Jayla Robinson and senior Rana Elfaham.
