Former Huntington Fire Department Chief Neil Getter presented the Frank Carino Award for Athletics to Class of 2022 member Analisse Batista, one of the top high school runners in the country. The award carries with it a $500 stipend.
Ex-Chief Getter made the presentation to Ms. Batista at Huntington High School’s senior scholarships and awards ceremony. The Carino Award is given annually to one of the top athletes in the graduating class.
Ms. Batista has been recruited by the University of Arkansas to run on its NCAA Division I track team. She won league, county and state titles while wearing a Blue Devil uniform and ran to All-American honors.
Exceptional during both the indoor and outdoor track seasons, Ms. Batista also starred on the front line of the Blue Devil varsity soccer team. One of the fastest players to the ball in all of Suffolk, Ms. Batista was an explosive goal scorer for Huntington. She helped lift the team to the playoffs, where the squad upset Commack on its home field.
Ms. Batista excelled on the track over a number of distances and in the relays. She has been winning awards since the first time she stepped foot on the track for Huntington.
