Taraina Augustin has used her time wisely at Huntington High School, where the senior was recently honored as one of the top members of the Class of 2022. The teenager is headed to the University at Albany where she plans to study biology.
Ms. Augustin was honored as a Distinguished Senior on Thursday night during a festive dinner in the school gym that also recognized dozens of high achieving Class of 2022 members.
The teenager said the “keys” to her success have been “never giving up” and motivation from her friends and teachers who have pushed her to be the best possible version of herself.
Ms. Augustin said she has especially enjoyed the classes that formed the basis for her deciding on a college and career path. Making new friends who have influenced her life in a positive manner is among the highlights of her high school years.
The senior has captured multiple Pride Awards in numerous academic subjects. A member of the Math Honor Society, Ms. Augustin has also performed with the Huntington Blue Devil marching band and the high school’s wind ensemble.
A caring and compassionate young woman, Ms. Augustin has used her free time to volunteer at Huntington Hospital. She genuinely wants to help others; to heal them and care for them.
Teachers respect Ms. Augustin and her classmates hold her in high esteem.
